Microsoft Yahoo Merger Brings Up Anti-Trust Again
It is happening again, Microsoft and Yahoo! talk about merging and strike a merger deal that has talks of Anti-Trust emerging. This is not the first time the two major search engines have been under review for Anti-Trust, back in February of 2008 the Microsoft Yahoo! buyout was in question on the ethics side of the buyout.
With Google coming in at about 70% of the search market, I don’t see much of a problem for Google to maintain against the combination of the two companies. Technology would allow them to actually compete with the search engine because of Microsoft’s Applications and Yahoo!’s search technology. Which in turn more competition would drive Google to actually change some of the parts of their search technology that needs to be fixed. Look at that, the same week that Yahoo and Microsoft talk about merging, Google announces its new search engine probably to take the buzz off of Yahoo and Microsofts big announcement. With anti-trust issues popping up maybe the merger will be on hold, or not at all.
